Anna wiebe | Undergraduate Research Assistant

My name is Anna Wiebe, and I had the absolute pleasure of working with the From the Voices of Children team from 2022-2024. I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta which is located on Treaty 6 territory. I grew up in a home deeply steeped in music; singing, playing piano and cello, and performing from a young age. Music followed me and supported me throughout my adolescence and into adulthood, and I strongly believe in the healing and community building power of singing and music more broadly. I was connected to this project during my time studying at the University of Alberta, Augustana Campus completing my BA in Environmental Studies. I believe that there is profound and urgent overlap between music and the arts, and caring for and understanding our local and global environments, both to appreciate and respond to their beauty, and to confront and be moved to action when they are violated. Additionally, I have spent most of my adult life working in childcare settings and have experienced firsthand the power of singing to calm, connect, and inspire children of all ages.
